The Tipton Conservative could have been our parish newsletter or the Jauron Times this week. Did you notice on the front page and in color, Mara Jauron standing between the Governor and Lieutenant Governor of the State of Iowa? Mara was the regional winner of the „If I Were Mayor‟ essay contest. Her essay was selected from nearly 800 submitted. It got me thinking of „If I Were Pastor‟ essay contest among our 7 & 8th graders. Congratulations Mara, a wonderful honor!

Of course, we take for granted Mary Barnum‟s, „Arts and Entrainment‟ column each week. Mary, I always look forward to reading it, but I wonder how you get to all of the events you review! How many years has your column been running?

Flipping ahead was Jerry O’Rourke presenting a check for $7,770 from Ford Drive One 4 UR School fundraising. The money goes to Tipton High School. Thank you to Ford Motor and the Tipton students who took part.

The good news was that I didn‟t find a parishioners name in the Weekly Digest sec-tion. On the same page was also a picture of Don Goetz turning 80. Send cards to 16215 Crown Arbor Way, Fort Myers, Fl. 33908. Happy Birthday Don!!!

And then, the Lemonheads! You couldn‟t miss them in their Florissant green tee-shirts and headbands. Curious, I continued to read that the Lemonheads are this year‟s Cedar County 4-H First Lego League (FLL) team. They received a first place trophy for their project presentation in the state regional competition. Then the Lemonheads went on to the State Competition. I continued to read on and thought that they had developed a product they called “Lemon Squeezy.” I was completely lost when they talked about extracting oil from the pulp of citrus and the rinds of citrus fruit. I was about to give up when I noticed the name “Kelly Jauron.” So I looked closely at the photo to see the Lemonheads close up. They were parishioner! Kael and Mara Jauron were members of the Lemonheads team and their coaches were Lemonheads Daron and Kelli Jauron. The article said “Cont. on pg. 8”. I had enough and didn‟t bother to read any further. Congratulations to the Lemonheads. Might you wear your Lemonhead outfits to Mass and let others see that I wasn‟t making this up!
